Why do we find “irregularities” in a scripture that Allah describes as “devoid of distortions”, or, in another word, perfect? Allah surely knows that any discrepancy between His declaration and the state of the scripture would only bring doubt to the whole message. Any error in a book that lays a strong claim to truth and perfection would shake the trust of the faithful, and deprive them from the confidence they need to stand fully behind the scripture and what it says.
Unless, of course, the statement of perfection does not apply to the text itself, but to something else that is in the scripture, but had yet to be unveiled. It seems that the time had come a few decades ago for whatever was stored away for an opportune time, when mankind will be capable of accessing, extracting, and putting to use the information, for it to be brought to light. Allah released that information in the form of a numerical and mathematical structure, offering incomparable aspects of both simplicity and vastness.
the reasons for the “irregularities” are of several orders:
- draw our attention to the fact that there is something else hidden behind the text itself, by injecting intentional and precisely planned “abnormalities” in the text.
- Make the more flexible text conform to the requirements and exigencies of the more rigid mathematical construction.
- Convince people, once they realize the extent of the structure, that it definitely is beyond the human capability to produce or imitate.
- Make the structure clarify many of the obscure aspects of the text.

Hi, Thanks for your fascinating blog. I have a question regarding a sentence in #6: “If we add the values of each of the 30 integers, we get 162,146 or 19 x 8534.” Sorry for the question that is probably stupid, but from where exactly did you get the 30 integers?

Hi Liz!
Thank you for your question, which is a very good one. Remember, Quran tells us that we are not supposed to accept any religious information that we do not verify on our own. You are right, I should have included the table showing all the numbers existing in Quran. I will forward one to you asap, and it will show that there are 38 different numbers in the whole of Quran: 8 fractions, and 30 integers. Some of those numbers occur one single time, and some occur several times. The total of their occurrences are supposed to be 285 (or 19 x 15), but I am still in the process of verifying that. Sometimes, we are too close to a given matter to see some of the difficulties they present to others, although I try to look at things from the point of view of a novice. Only Allah is perfect and can see everything.
Hopefully, the table will constitute a satisfactory answer to your question, and I really appreciate your attention to what I may have overlooked.
With my thanks, and my best regards!
Ezz.
