Given the situation in the world today, some thinkers have advanced the theory of “clash of civilizations”. It is a fact that the gap between the quickening “liberalisation” of the Western societies and their attitude regarding their position in the world are creating an adverse reaction and hardening of conservatism in many countries and religious groups, particularly within Islam.
Many scholars attribute both the increased relaxation or removal of the religious and moral guard-rails and the resurgence of conservative attitudes as a realisation of the prophecies portending the time of the end, when mankind is nearing the expiration of the time it has been given before the cataclysmic events described in the scriptures would occur. Are the social and military conflicts we see taking place, the deterioration of peaceful living conditions, the degradation of the environment, simply expressions of the “unstable” and selfish natures of humans, or are they telling us something about the fulfillment process of prophecies issued a long time ago? If it is the realization of prophecies announced far in the past, then someone either knew what will happen, or maybe even is directing the sequence of events? Either way, shouldn’t we be paying careful attention to what was predicted, and reflect on where it is coming from, and why?
Is the time running out for mankind? Is the occurring of the prophecy of the “Hour”, as it is called in Quran, imminent? Are we witnessing, or soon to be caught in the series of events leading to what the Bible describes as the end of time, preceding the “Second Return” of Jesus?
How do our actions (or lack of them) fit in the process that had been described, and how could they impact the timetable of that process, and most of all, how could our life and decisions be impacted by it? After all, if the events we are living had been preordained or predicted, it had to be for some reason. No one is in the secrets of the gods, as it is said, but the likelihood is that the predictions were placed in the scriptures as a warning for the believers to pay attention, to get whatever protection they can to mitigate their hardship, and to believe. Believing is by far the best protection.

“Affrontement Entre Civilisations”, ou autre chose?
Etant donne la situation dans le monde aujourd’hui, certains penseurs ont avance la theorie d’un “affrontement de civilisations”. C’est un fait que l’acceleration de la “liberalisation” des societies occidentales et leur attitude au sujet de leur position dans le monde creent une reaction adverse de renforcement du conservatism dans plusieurs pays et groups religieux, particulierement au sein de l’Islam.
De nombreux chercheurs attribuent tant la relaxation accrue ou l’enlevement des garde-fous moraux et religieux que la resurgence d’attitudes conservatrices a une realisation des prophecies qui annoncent le temps de la fin, quand l’humanite est proche de l’expiration de la periode qui lui a ete donnee, avant que les evenements cataclysmiques decrits dans les Ecritures Saintes ne prennent place. Est ce que les conflits sociaux et militaries que nous voyons se produire, la deterioration des conditions de vie paisible, la degradation de l’environnement, sont simplement les expressions de nature instable et egoiste des etres humains, ou bien nous dissent-ils quelque chose au sujet de l’accomplissement des prophecies annoncees il y’a bien longtemps? Si c’est la realisation des prophecies announcees bien loin dans le passé, quelqu’un donc devait savoir ce qui devait arriver, ou est peut-etre controler la sequence des evenements. Quoiqu’il en soit, ne devrions-nous pas payer soigneusement attention a cce qui a ete predit, et reflechir au sujet d’ou cela vient, et pourquoi?
Le temps devolu a l’humanite tire t-il a sa fin? L’occurrence de la prophecie de l’ “Heure”, telle qu’ elle est appelee dans le Coran, est-elle imminente? Sommes-nous les temoins, ou allons-nous etre pris dans la seie d’evenements qui menent a ce que la Bible declare comme “la fin du temps”, precedant le ”Second Retour” de Jesus?
omment nos actions (ou le manqué d’action) se placent-elles dans le processus qui a ete decrit, et comment pourraient-elles influencer le deroulement de ce processus, et surtout, comment ce processus pourrait-il influemcer notre vie et nos decisions? Apres tout, si les evenements que nous vivons ont ete pre-arranges ou predits, cela doit etre pour une raison. Personne n’est dans le secret des dieux, comme on dit, mais la probabilite est que les predictions ont ete places dans les Ecritures Saintes pour prevenir les croyants de faire attention, de se proteger comme ils le peuvent pour mitiger leurs difficulties, et de croire. Croire est de loin la meilleure protection.
